My top 5 winter dressing table essentials

As the seasons change, so do our daily routines. The air gets colder and the nights are darker, leaving us feeling

The first thing I start to notice when winter is approaching is my skin drying out more than usual. I always suffer with dry skin especially on my hands.
My absolute saviour is the Hemp Hand Protector from The Body Shop. This stuff is amazing! I've even caught my husband stealing some from my hand bag, so I bought him his own!

I can be very forgetful when it comes to moisturising the rest of my body - usually because I don't have enough time! But I find I make more of an effort in the winter months especially, as I said before i tend to find my skin feels more dry around this time. Recently I have been reaching for the Palmers Coconut Oil moisturiser, recommended to me by a friend. It smells divine and leaves my skin feeling and smelling lovely all day. It dries nicely too and doesn't carry that oily finish like some moisturisers can.

I always, always have to have lip balm with me. In my handbag, on my bedside table and even in my makeup bag. In my opinion you really can't beat good classic vaseline. I find it really is the best at making my lips feel soft and moisturised.

As daytime hours get shorter and the weather duller, it makes it harder for us ladies to access good lighting whilst getting ready. This little No7 dressing table saviour has probably been one of the best presents Miles has ever bought me! It provides 2 sides to the mirror, one normal and the other zoomed (good for tweezing those brows!) It also has a ring light all the way around both sides of the mirror - HURRAH! P.s Boots usually have these on offer each year as Christmas is approaching.
Colder air, plus having the heating on can also cause your hair to dry out. Whilst I'm all for conditioning treatments, I also think this little baby is essential for assisting those brittle, split ends. Great for detangling when your hair is wet, but also good for avoiding any additional breakage when brushing. A must-have for every girl (or boy) especially those with long hair!

Courgetti with pesto and balsamic tomatoes

Like me, many of you have probably vowed to try and eat healthier this New Year. I have also been dying to try out this new 'courgetti' craze which has been coming about.

So tonight I tried out a quick easy recipe I found online. All you need is the following;

8 baby plum tomatoes, 4 halved and 4 whole
1tbsp olive oil
1/2 clove of garlic, crushed
1tbsp balsamic vinegar
1 large courgette, spiralised or very thinly shredded into noodles (admittedly, I did cheat and buy mine pre-spiralised!)
2 tbsp vegetarian pesto
1 tbsp pine nuts, toasted

Start off by mixing the tomatoes, olive oil, garlic and balsamic vinegar (additional seasoning to taste if required). Tip into a frying pan and cook for 5 minutes until the whole tomatoes start to burst and are coated in the balsamic vinegar.
Then pour a kettle of hot water over the courgette noodles and blanch for 30 seconds Drain really well then add in the pesto, stirring well to coat the noodles. Then you can add in the tomatoes and toasted pine nuts on top to finish.

Unfortunately, my attempt came out rather watery. I think I may have left the noodles in to cook for too long and they soaked up a lot of water! However, it still tasted yummy so I will just take more care when I cook it next time.

I had also cooked a couple of large stuffed mushrooms but was unable to eat them as this dish is surprisingly filling!

Have any of you tried courgetti or spiralising before?
